States how a package is marked. It usually sets up the GIN segment that follows by declaring which kind of number is coming, and is the first link in reading shipping labels.

Watch out
The code 33E says the label follows GS1 rules and that an SSCC number will follow. If PCI is skipped, it is unclear which standard the number in GIN belongs to.
