States how the goods must be handled: cold chain, fragile, do not stack, and so on. In transport instructions it is the operational warning given to the carrier.

Watch out
These codes are an operational requirement rather than a commercial one, and losing them damages the goods directly. FRO means frozen, FRG fragile, NST do not stack; a transfer that drops the cold-chain code can end with spoiled product.
